About Dr. Michelle Brooks-Thompson
Michelle Brooks-Thompson is a Grammy-nominated Top Billboard Charting Independent Recording Artist, who rose to fame as a finalist on season 3 of NBC’s the Voice. She is the 2017 Grand Champion winner of the legendary Amateur Night at the Apollo (New York) & most recently, the 2022 winner of Unsung Heroes (The Music Room, Cape Cod).
Michelle captivates audiences with her stunning voice and dynamic stage presence, particularly through her emotional performances of the National Anthem and “God Bless America.” She has graced numerous high-profile sporting events across the NBA, NFL, MLS, NHL, and MLB. On May 22, 2025, she received recognition from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Veteran Services for her exceptional rendition of the National Anthem at the inaugural Military Appreciation Day Ceremony at the Massachusetts State House. Proudly, she serves as the National Anthem singer for the Boston-based National Women’s Hockey League team, the Boston Fleet, contributing her talents during their first two seasons. Additionally, she has been the anthem singer for the Boston Celtics since 2014. Over her impressive career, Michelle has performed over 75 times at professional games and significant events, including the 2025 NBA Playoffs, the Agawam Veterans Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony in 2025, the 2024 NBA Finals (featuring the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks), the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, the 2024 Iowa Indy Car Race, the 2023 Boston Marathon, the 2023 Tough Ruck Race, the 2023 NBA East Conference Finals and Playoffs (Rounds 1 and 2), as well as serving as the national anthem singer for the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers from 2023 to 2025. Her repertoire also includes the Annual South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2023, the AFC NFL Championship Games in 2023 and 2014 (Kansas City), the 2021 MLS Charlotte FC Inaugural Game and 2022 Season Opener, and the 2022 NBA Finals (Game 3 Warriors vs. Celtics), among many others.
Mark Copeland/Band Director & Lead Keys
Hometown- Trenton, NJ and Baltimore, MD
Mark Copeland is a Pianist, Organist, Keyboardist, Music Producer, Composer, Arranger, Songwriter and Educator. Mark resides in New England with his wife Stephanie Copeland. He is also versatile in all forms of Contemporary Music. Mark is a Graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts, and a Graduate of Berklee College of Music with a Contemporary Writing and Production Degree . Currently, Mark is a professor in the Ensemble Department at Berklee College of Music. Mark has played for and shared the stage with numerous artist such as Yolanda Adams, Brian McKnight, Jeffrey Osborn, Kenny Lattimore, Michelle Brooks-Thompson, Walter Beasley, Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, and Elan Trotman to name a few.
With all that Mark has accomplished in his life and career he remains humble, focused and ready for all the great things that are still ahead of him. Mark’s purpose in life is clear and his ultimate goal is to use his God given gift of music to inspire and educate others to be the greatest musician they can be.
Shaquille “SHAQ” Harris/Asst. Band Director & Bass Guitarist
Hometown- Kingston, Jamaica
Shaquille Harris (aka Shaq) is a Guitarist, aspiring Keyboardist, Educator, and Church Music Director. Shaquille has played on multiple platforms and styles of music including Gospel, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Jazz. He is one of the original founding members of the band MALADO. He has been the main bassist with MBT Music since 2014. He has played live performances and toured with many artists across different genres of music.
Jamaal Coleman/Vocalist
Hometown- Madison, New Jersey
Jamaal Coleman is a talented recording artist hailing from Madison, New Jersey. With a passion for music that ignited in his childhood, Jamaal began singing in church, where he developed his vocal skills and found his love for performance. He further honed his craft at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he immersed himself in the world of songwriting and composition. Jamaal has collaborated with various music groups throughout his career, showcasing his versatility as a male lead vocalist in several wedding bands. His rich, soulful voice and captivating stage presence have earned him recognition and admiration from audiences far and wide.
Gabriele “ Gabby” Lee/Vocalist
Hometown- Springfield, Massachusetts
Gabriele has been performing since a small child starting with her church’s youth and adult choirs and church plays. She has also performed at various events across the US to include festivals, charity events, private parties, restaurants and other events such as The University of Phoenix Commencement ceremony at the UOP Stadium and June Archer’s Hot Chocolate Soul hosted quarterly at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, CT. Gabriele has performed with various bands and vocal artist including Nadiyah Bolling and the Keep’n it Real Band, About Tyme Band of Boston, Mass and alongside National Recording Artist Michelle Brooks-Thompson and MBT Music Experience of Springfield, Mass.
Ronald “Ron” Campbell/Vocalist
Hometown- Queens, New York
Ronald Campbell, a proud native of Queens, New York, has been captivating audiences with his singing since the age of two. His early musical journey blossomed in the church, where he honed his craft and developed a deep passion for performance. Known for his commitment to fostering musical excellence, Ronald inspires singers under his guidance to reach their fullest potential.
In 2020, he took a significant step forward by launching his own business, Duly Noted. This venture is dedicated to providing vocal coaching and instruction for individuals, ensembles, and choirs, as well as offering lead and backing vocals for studio sessions and live events. With a mission to empower and uplift voices, Ronald Campbell is determined to make a lasting impact on the music world, one voice at a time!
ALTON “All10” SKINNER/Saxophonist
Hometown: Springfield, MA
Alton Skinner is a saxophonist based in Western Massachusetts. Since joining his past high school’s band program, Alton has cultivated a musical career working with the likes of Doobie Powell, Ace Livingston, and The Delfonics as well as collaborating with many Local artists in the Massachusetts and Connecticut area. When not performing as a part of 6 separate groups and freelancing other musical projects, such as recording for albums and commercials, Alton teaches woodwind instruments in multiple public schools, private saxophone lessons at the Community Music School of Springfield, and instructs the saxophonists attending Springfield College.
GARY “SKILLET” SMITH/Drummer
Hometown- Springfield, MA
Gary “Skillet” Smith, Jr. is a Drummer and Music Producer. He has played drums professionally and toured with artist such ANoyd, and Chris Webby, Michelle Brooks-Thompson and more. He has played for various churches as well. Gary is one of the founding band members of MALADO, out of Springfield, MA. This band was a finalist on the VH1 show Make A Band Famous. They finished in the Top 3 which created endless opportunities for them. Gary’s exceptional drumming ability has afforded him Endorsements with several music instrument companies including Domain Cymbals, CymPad, Solobeat drumsticks, and MEE Audio In Ears.
LUTHER JOHNSON, III./Guitarist
Hometown- Springfield, Massachusetts
Luther Johnson, III is a musician, composer, and entertainer. He is from a musically gifted family so at the very young age of 13 he started playing the electric guitar. In 1973 he attended The Stockbridge School in the Berkshires where he studied music theory and participated in jazz workshops under Jazz Bassist, Vishnu Wood. He later attended Simon’s Rock of Bard college for 2 years and continued to study music theory and classical composition. He mastered the guitar. He kept on getting compliments whenever he played, and people started saying he reminded them of Prince. In 1982 shortly after the movie Purple Rain was released, he started doing a Prince Tribute and has been doing it since. He has had the pleasure and honor of performing with other greats such as Joe Tex, Taj Mahal, Charles Mageed Greenley, Avery Sharpe, Fred Tillis, Joe Sallins, Archie Shepp and Charles Neville. He currently performs as a guitarist and vocalist with Michelle Brooks-Thompson and with the Soul of Boston.
GAYLYN “GIGI” BATTLE/MBT Music Personal Assistant
Hometown: Boston, MA
Gaylyn “Gigi” Battle joined MBT Music as Personal Assistant to the lead singer and founding member, Michelle Brooks-Thompson. She has a passion for helping others and making sure things run smoothly. When it comes to MBT Music, she helps communicate with event organizers, handing out business cards, helping with making travel arrangements, and other like duties.

Excellent! Michelle is a powerhouse, not only as a singer but as a seasoned professional.
She went above and beyond to meet the energy of our guests. We had to make a 10/15 minute time adjustment for our speaking moment a Michelle was extremely flexible and was able to adapt in the moment to fit our timing need. Guests and employees alike were in awe of Michelle voice and her uplifting nature. Guests very much enjoyed the setlist for the performances with many signing and dancing along throughout the night. I cannot talk highly enough about how Michelle made such an impact on our night and set the tone for the evening. A truly special event for our guests to be apart of- huge thanks to Michelle!

Michelle Brooks-Thompson is the real deal. It was by chance that I found her and asked that she sing a few gospel selections at my mom’s funeral, and it was more than I could have ever imagined. She came to us with a beautiful spirit, class, and a mesmerizing voice, that brought so much comfort. She’s an A class vocalist, and came ready with all of her gifting, she didn’t hold back just because it was a small going home celebration. She gave us her all, and was so caring about our loss. We were really blessed emotionally, and I know that we did my mom proud by having Michelle sing for her celebration home.
